After implementing a product display or strategic store layout, product manufacturers will spend a significant amount of money to bring their products to retail spaces – thanks to marketing assets, products and often promotional materials, as well as the product fixtures and installer and field staff time. Therefore, it is important that manufacturers align with in-store fixture compliance to ensure they attain the best value from their retail presence, and that brand values are represented correctly.
Why is retail fixture compliance so important?
Product manufacturers spend significant amounts of time, money and effort to bring what they are selling to retail spaces. This can include marketing assets, products and often promotional materials, as well as the fixture/furniture, installer and field staff time.
It is therefore important to ensure the ultimate value is attained from your retail presence and that brand values are correctly represented.
How does retail compliance software work?
As a retailer, once a retail store has decided on a specific retail activation, it is the manufacturer field team’s responsibility to ensure the retail space layout matches the space’s plans. Creating a planogram with Consilio offers retail asset management software for compliance, meaning the correct visual merchandising and display asset configurations are used to create a product setup within the store. Deviating from these plans will result in non-compliance.
Compliance is a method of checking that fixtures and assets are correctly populated and brand compliant. For every fixture, the planogram compliance software provides tools for field staff to mark each placed SKU (stock keeping unit) or asset as:
- Compliant – Indicating that the correct asset has been placed in the correct position and is marked in green.
- Not Compliant – Highlighting an issue with the asset’s placement. The field user can use a configurable drop-down menu to specify where the issue lies, which can include health and safety requirements or missing items. Supporting text can be added and an image attached, while the position on the fixture is then marked in red, and an issue ticket is opened.
- N/A – Meaning the field user no longer needs to check on this item in the future.

A schedule can be configured to set compliant and not compliant items in a ‘re-check’ state. This will indicate to the field user that they must check the SKU and in the asset positionasset again to ensure compliance has been resolved.
Reporting can be created on compliance either as a per store summary, which shows how compliant a given store is, or output a detailed compliance report. A detailed report will show the current state of every SKU or asset on every fixture in every store. Both reports can be extensively filtered to specific stores, fixtures or SKUs.
